New entity on it's way to revitalise Darwin City!

Yesterday we heard from the Chief Minister Michael Gunner who told us the Territory Government and City of Darwin will be partnering to form a new Entity similar to the Darwin Waterfront Corporation that will bring new investment into the kitty from the Darwin City Deals funding. Mr Gunner told Katie Woolf this new funding will help bring all events under one umbrella including council regulations and by-laws for the CBD area to make it easier to help revitalise Darwin City.

Today the Lord Mayor explained further detail on 360 and advised it's time for new thinking. He said that the Northern Territory Government and City of Darwin have been meeting with both encouraging new ideas for Darwin City.

In the next 6 months we will see an independent board form, similar to that of the Darwin Waterfront Corporation which will oversee a new Entity that is more than, stronger than and bigger than the current Darwin City Waterfront Retail Association.

It will be a new model where a board can meet fortnightly or more regularly and act quickly. The board will be supported by a CEO, support staff and a small marketing team.

The Lord Mayor advised it's a work in progress and we look forward to hearing more in the near future.
