St John Director of Ambulance Services Andrew Thomas says a 23-year-old man was rushed to hospital after his arm was cut off in a firework explosion on a Virginia property.

He told Katie Woolf hand and fingers injuries and burns were among the other callouts attended to by paramedics.

Mr Thomas says a 58-year-old also sustained leg and groin injuries in the explosion.
