Emergency services arrived and conveyed both the man and woman to Royal Darwin Hospital, but the man was later declared dead.

The woman is still in hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is receiving treatment.

Investigations are now continuing, and detectives from Major Crash Investigation Unit are working to formally identify the man and notify his family of his passing.

Police are asking for any motorists who travelled on Bagot Road through Ludmilla at around 7pm Thursday who witnessed the pair or have dash cam footage to contact police on 131 444 – the man and woman are of Aboriginal appearance.

There have now been 8 lives lost on Territory roads this year.
