Women killed in hit and run were sleeping on the road and officer injured after assault in Nightcliff
Police Commissioner Michael Murphy says two women who died after being hit by a car in Brinkin this morning were sleeping on the road, in an area people often mistake as a carpark.
He told Katie Woolf 30 police recruits were sworn in yesterday including his son, and the squad will now start their training, with four previous officers rejoining the ranks.
Commissioner Murphy says work has begun to educate the force about the CLP Government’s law changes adding that two people have been charged with the new posting and boasting offence.
He also says an officer was assaulted at the Nightcliff Foreshore yesterday and needed stitches in his head after engaging with a group who were drinking.
