Big spend on police and education in NT Budget but will result in record $11 billion net debt
Chief Minister and Treasurer Eva Lawler is touting a record police budget of $570 million over 5 years to address crime but the pre-election cash splash thrusts the NT into a record $11 billion of net debt.
She told Katie Woolf education is her other big priority, with $890 million to fully fund government schools and provide pathways for kids to get into work.
Ms Lawler has pointed to the Middle Arm Precinct and onshore gas industry to help pay down the debt.
