Chief Minister outlines bail changes after recalling parliament following the alleged murder of Nightcliff supermarket owner Linford Feick

Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro says NT parliament will sit on Wednesday to debate urgent bail reforms that will mean judges have to firstly consider the level of risk an offender poses to the community before all other factors in bail applications, following the alleged murder of 71-year-old Linford Feick at his Nightcliff supermarket.
She told Katie Woolf an overhaul of the Youth Justice Act is also due to be complete by July and promised to axe clauses of ‘detention as a last resort.’
Ms Finocchiaro says judges will always have discretion but her government plans to strengthen the guidelines courts have to work within.
