NT Chief Minister Eva Lawler has welcomed Malarndirri McCarthy’s appointment as Minister for Indigenous Australians saying having a Territorian, who understands the issues facing Aboriginal people in cabinet will make a big difference to the NT.

She told Katie Woolf the NT Government has struck a number of gas deals, firstly with Tamboran, now with Empire Energy and the Mereenie and Palm Valley joint ventures to secure supply for the NT into the future.

Ms Lawler says people were relatively behaved at the Royal Darwin Show aside from a few fights among groups on Saturday night.
