Labor claims NT prisons will continue to be swamped with CLP only focused on punitive measures instead of alternatives to custody

Opposition Leader Selina Uibo says the Chief Minister needs to stand by her word if she’s told the NT Police Association that officers would receive retention bonuses for various milestones over five years.
She also told Katie Woolf Labor voted against a bill in NT parliament last week allowing the Corrections Commissioner to borrow trained officers from interstate for NT prisons as well as private contractors.
Ms Uibo claims the CLP doesn’t have a plan to deal with the extra pressure on prisons saying it’s only focusing on punitive measures instead of alternatives to custody.
