Remembering Cyclone Tracy Committee unveils the memorial it wanted for the 50th anniversary

Remembering Cyclone Tracy Chair Richard Creswick says the committee wanted a memorial, designed by local artist Techy Masero to be installed at East Point for the 50th anniversary of the Cyclone but couldn’t secure $600,000 for it.

He this morning revealed the design to Katie Woolf amid all the controversy surrounding the City of Darwin’s yellow kinetic monument at Bundilla Beach, which the Lord Mayor now says is public art.

Mr Creswick says they are proceeding with Techy’s second piece, a frangipani memorial which has received positive feedback from survivors.
