NT police are calling for the public’s help to identify a masked man responsible for an alleged robbery and arson incident in Katherine.
Police say they received reports of a man allegedly entering a Victoria Highway service station in Katherine South at around 1:10pm on Tuesday.
After allegedly lighting the fire inside of the service station, the man then fled the scene in a white Toyota Hilux.
The employee working at the time had extinguished the flames before the arrival of emergency services.
CCTV shows the man was wearing a balaclava to conceal his identity, and that the Hilux has a rusted flatbed tray and damage to the driver’s side door – including a missing wing mirror and door handle.
Police say the Toyota Hilux was last seen traveling west on the Victoria Highway.
Detectives from the Katherine Criminal Investigation Branch are currently investigating.
Police are urging any witnesses or anyone with information about the Toyota Hilux to contact them on 131 444 and quote the reference number 10328228.
