A local Darwin fighter is keen on representing Australia- but needs your help to get there.
Taleisha Kirk has the opportunity to represent Australia at the Hungarian Kickboxing World Cup in June.
To get there, she’ll need to pay thousands in flight costs and could use some community support.
The 18 year old is not new to fighting though, ranking 5th in the world at Kickboxing when she was 15.
“The upcoming competition in Hungary will see me represent Team Australia. It would be great to have people reach out and support a local girl hopefully become world champion,” Ms Kirk said.
“A lot of fighters in Australia have the same issue – the sport isn’t as well known and people might be less inclined to help us,” she said.
“It’s hard to get help, but I can say anything will make a difference. It means so much knowing locals are recognising you and supporting you for what you’re doing,” she said.
“It would mean a lot with more backing behind me to help me get there, I’m sure Team Australia will do everyone who proud who is behind me!”
