Declan Laverty Murder Trial Court In Session

The trial for the man accused of murdering 20-year-old Declan Laverty resumes in the Darwin Supreme Court today.

The bottle-shop worker was reportedly stabbed seven times in the BWS on Airport Tavern Drive, one of which pierced his heart – at which point the court heard he sent his mum Samara one last text message.

His death triggered protests and petitions for the NT Government to crack down on crime.

CCTV from inside the store was played to the court on Friday, and more than a dozen witnesses are expected to give evidence across the coming days.
