Five people have been arrested over a crime spree and ram raid in Darwin City this morning.
It started at 5.20am with a Ford Ranger and Hyundai i30 reported stolen from a home in Nightcliff.
It’s alleged the vehicles were used to ram raid a Cavanegh Street business where a quantity of was alcohol stolen.
The cars have also been linked to an incident that saw a Mitchell Street business damaged and two break-ins at businesses in Eaton and Jingili.
A contingent of police and the Dog Operations Unit were deployed and intercepted the Ranger in Malak, arresting three males at about 7.30am.
Soon after police chased the Hyundai along Dick Ward Drive and deployed tyre spikes, with one male arrested after the vehicle came to a stop in Ludmilla.
The fifth person was arrested in Millner.
Detective Sergeant Dale Motter-Barnard has commended officers for their fast response.
“This was an excellent coordinated effort from NT Police to apprehend these five alleged offenders in such a short time after the initial incident was reported.”
