NT Police Search and Rescue officers have rescued a 45-year-old man from the Tiwi Islands, after he became separated from his family while hunting.
The man was reported missing on Monday afternoon (September 2) west of the Wurrumiyanga Community.
A search was then initiated by both the Police Airwing helicopter and local community members.
The 45-year-old was eventually located 5km west of the local community severely dehydrated, before being taken to the local clinic for treatment and a medical assessment.
Search Coordinator Senior Constable Michael Bishop says “This incident serves as a timely reminder to carry sufficient provisions for the conditions this time of year and to always have a way to tell someone where you are.”
