Vehicle fire in Katherine, treated as suspicious

NT police are calling for witnesses in relation to a vehicle fire in Katherine South.

Emergency services were called to the blaze out the front of unit blocks on the Victoria Highway at 2am on Monday.

The fire gutted the vehicle, with crews working quickly to extinguish it while police evacuated nearby homes.

The blaze is being treated as suspicious and is being investigated by the Katherine Criminal Investigation Branch.

Detectives are asking anyone who saw suspicious activity to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and quote reference 23265270.
