Gosling Says City Deal Too Slow
Federal Member for Solomon Luke Gosling believes the Federal Government is stalling in delivering funding to Darwin for the city deal.
Federal Minister for Urban Infrastructure and Cities Paul Fletcher visited Darwin yesterday and said the Territory could see projects as part of the deal by the end of the year.
"I'm hopeful that we'll be in a position to be announcing the outcomes to the city deal certainly be the end of this year," Mr Fletcher said.
But Mr Gosling said that's too far away.
"It's way too late! I mean Launceston is the longest that any city has had to wait so far and that was 7 months, we're already at 10 months," Mr Gosling said.
A memorandum of understanding between the Commonwealth, Northern Territory and Local Government was signed in May last year.
