The Northern Territory Seafood Council has today commenced an online survey to build a better understanding from Territorians on their seafood preferences and perceptions on the value of the seafood industry.

‘The online survey provides Territorians an opportunity to have their say about seafood, labelling laws and the Northern Territory professional seafood industry,’ said Northern Territory Seafood Council Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Katherine Winchester.

‘Consumer seafood experience is important to understand, as is consumer preferences and what drives purchasing decisions.

‘We want to hear from Territorians and about their experiences. We know we need to continue to listen and understand consumer’s perceptions of the seafood industry, the quality and the variety of seafood in the NT.

‘Whilst the Northern Territory remains the envy of Australia with seafood labelling laws, it is important to check in with the community to understand the impacts this has on menu choice.

‘We have seen strong backing for clearly labelled menu’s for seafood dishes and the importance of transparency about the country of origin with regards to consumer choice when selecting which seafood to purchase.

‘Previous surveys have revealed trends such as Territorians seafood consumption and opinions on the seafood industry and we are keen to understand any changes over time, said Mrs Winchester.

Whether you are a regular consumer of seafood or purchase seafood for that special occasion, we are inviting you to complete the online survey.

This will be the fourth ‘Have your say on NT Seafood’ survey with the first survey occurring 2013, 2014 and 2015. The 2019 survey can be accessed online via https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PR5C7PD and closes on 14 March 2019.
