The highly controversial twitter CEO and billionaire, took to his platform to announce that he’s stepping down as CEO but will remain with the company as he transitions to a new role.
Musk bought the social media platform back in October 2022 for a staggering $US44 billion, he appointed himself CEO shortly after and is now stepping down from that position which will be filled by an unnamed female, who will take over the top role in around 6 weeks time.
Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!

My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.
Musk’s new role will be “exec chair and chief technology officer (CTO), overseeing product, software & sysops”. So he’ll still be heavily involved in the twitter-verse.
While he had always planned to eventually step down from the top job, this news comes following an embarrassing pole he ran back in December when he asked Twitter users, should he step down, the results were almost 58% of the 17.5 million votes saying yes.
Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.

Safe to say, the man takes his Twitter poles VERY seriously!
