After a decade-long hiatus, Cameron Diaz returns to the big screen in Netflix’s Back in Action, reuniting with Jamie Foxx for a spy comedy that marks her comeback to acting.
The film follows Emily and Matt Tanner, a married couple and former CIA agents who retired to start a family after years in the spy game. Despite believing they’ve left their dangerous past behind, the couple finds themselves unexpectedly pulled back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown.
Diaz herself has been candid about her time away from Hollywood, describing her decade-long break as “the most wonderful decade” of her life and it was apparently Jamie Foxx who played a key role in persuading her to return. Her last film appearance was back in 2014’s Annie which was also alongside Foxx.
While critics have been mixed about the film, with some calling it “generic”, the movie is a fun action-packed return for both actors in roles that are not too heavy but make for a great popcorn flick.
