The long-awaited Shrek 5 is officially in the works, and it’s bringing a fresh twist; Zendaya has been cast as Felicia, the teenage daughter of Shrek and Fiona. The film is set to hit cinemas on December 23, 2026, reuniting the original cast while introducing a new storyline centered around the next generation of ogres.

A Star-Studded Return to Far Far Away

Mike Myers (Shrek), Cameron Diaz (Fiona), and Eddie Murphy (Donkey) will all be reprising their beloved roles. Murphy, in particular, has been vocal about his excitement, even hinting that a standalone Donkey spin-off could be in the works.

Zendaya’s addition to the cast has sparked excitement and curiosity, with fans eager to see how her character, Felicia, will fit into the Shrek universe. Felicia isn’t entirely new to the franchise; she appeared as an infant in Shrek the Third and Shrek Forever After, alongside her two ogre brothers, Fergus and Farkle. Now a teenager, Felicia is expected to play a central role in the new film.

A Teaser That Took Fans by Surprise

The first teaser trailer dropped recently, confirming Zendaya’s involvement. The clip, though brief, introduced Felicia’s voice and hinted at the movie’s storyline. While details remain under wraps, the teaser suggests that Shrek 5 will focus on the challenges of raising ogre teenagers while maintaining the humour and heart that made the original films so popular.

Fans were quick to react to Zendaya’s casting, with many expressing excitement over the unexpected addition to the franchise. Given her track record in major films like Dune and Spider-Man, expectations are high for her take on Felicia.
