This Saturday at 2:35pm the Super Rugby Women’s series will come to an epic conclusion with the Queensland Reds facing the New South Wales Waratahs.
One of the greatest rivalries in women’s rugby will face off in this grand final slam and Queensland say they’re feeling empowered. Tiarna Molloy, QLD Reds hooker said “It’s Queensland vs NSW. It’s the rivalry in women’s rugby… The commentators keep saying the Waratahs have never been beaten by another Australian team. That definitely puts extra fire in the belly but all minds are focussed on what we need to do as a team to get the job done.”
Since the comp started back in 2018, the Warratahs and Reds have gone head to head in the finals a total of four times, marking this the fifth occasion. It would be six if the 2020 finals weren’t cancelled due to some pesky pandemic getting in the way. But the Reds have a true opportunity to finally secure a Championship under their belts, going into the grand final as the underdogs it might just be the game that gets the team in the history books!
The NSW Waratahs have won 5 of the 7 championships since the series conception, even winning the 2024 series against the Fijian Drua. All eyes will be on the Reds this weekend in what is sure to be a David vs Goliath, cinderella, underdog story this weekend.
You can catch the Grand final this weekend on Stan at 2:35pm AEST.
